Skyline Frequently Asked Questions |
|
Q: Does Skyline operate all year around?
A: Yes, Skyline operates year around and in all weather conditions. No experience is necessary and all
equipment is provided.
Q: Is it safe?
A: The Skyline system is fully engineered and certified. Skyline is the safest cable ride system in the
world because it utilizes a permanent rock anchor system rather than anchoring cables into trees. The cables used
are also 3 times the thickness of conventional zip line systems.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Please dress weather appropriate. During the summer we recommend sensible shoes (no sandals) sunscreen,
a hat and a camera. In winter, snow pants, boots, gloves, a toque and a camera. Layering works best. We will provide
each guest with protective rain gear if necessary.
Q: How high is the cable?
A: Highest point is 250 feet and the lowest is 10 feet. The lower cables gives a greater sense of speed.
Q: How fast is it?
A: Guests can reach up to 100 km/hr (60 miles/hr). This speed will vary depending on the weight of the
individual.
Q: How long are you on the cables?
A: It takes less than a minute at our speeds to fly a line. Our tours run 2 to 3 hours. This includes
the shuttle from the village to the base of Cougar Mountain, harnessing in, a safety orientation and the activity.
Q: What if I am afraid of heights?
A: Not to worry! Each take-off and landing areas are from ground level or a tree hugger tower. The maximum
height of each tree hugger tower is 20 feet.
Q: What are the age limits?
A: No age Limits! However we do require the guest to weight a minimum of 70 lbs to partake. Our maximum
weight capacity is 250 lbs.
Q: How do you stop?
A: Skyline uses two leading edge brake systems. For the slower speed lines, Skyline uses a spring break
system and for the faster lines Skyline uses a linear magnetic brake system.
Q: What type of harness do you wear?
A: The harness is a 2 point para-glider style harness. It is designed for comfort,
which is achieved through the use of foam under the flier's legs and lower back.
